Summer signing Shaun Hutchinson may only be barely a month into life at Millwall and under the charge of manager Neil Harris, but he’s been enjoying himself so far.
Having come in from Fulham, and got two appearances under his belt in games against Bromley and Crawley Town, he was quick to tell the official site that not only did he feel he was settling in really well with his new playing colleagues, he also couldn’t wait for Tony Craig’s testimonial game against Brentford so he could experience The Den faithful fully behind him.
‘The hardest thing when you come to a new club is finding out the way that the gaffer wants you to play and learning what the right things to do are. Obviously at your old club you do things in a different way. Every team is different and it takes time, but it’s going fine and I’m really looking forward to Saturday.’
Having been at The Den previously, and whilst it won’t be the same kind of atmosphere as a competitive match given the testimonial nature, he admitted he still knew it would feel differently.
‘I have played at The Den before and although it probably won’t be bouncing in the same way that it will be for the first League game of the season against Oldham on 6th August, it’s going to be great to get out there. Hopefully the fans turn out for TC and it’s a good game.’
As for pre season preparations so far, he ended by saying.
‘The first-half of our pre-season was hard as it’s all about getting your legs going again, but now that a lot of the fitness work has been done, we’ve been working on a lot of things on the training ground. It’s more about gearing ourselves for that first game of the season and making sure that we get off to a really good start.’
Tickets for the game remain on sale priced at £10 adults, £5 over 60s and £5 U16s.
Executive seats, £25 for adults and £20 for juniors are also on sale, whilst Kitchener’s Restaurant will be open for the game, with a two-course buffet costing just £15 per head.
