Manager Ian Holloway has said that although he’s running his eye over eight youngsters whilst we are on our training camp, with the idea of including them in our first team squad for the coming season, he’s also still diligently working away on further potential transfers.

Having already identified targets, Holloway says he is continuing to work on them, along with staff back at the club, to see whether or not we can get any over the line so we can give them as much of our pre season workout as possible to bed in. If not, he’ll move onto other plans he has already put in place.

Speaking to the official site Holloway said his main target was at least another striker, and preferably a utility player to increase our options in 2014-15.

‘We are looking at our options, particularly a couple of strikers and a utility player and we’re already on the case in those areas. It would be lovely if we could get those particular positions filled quickly so we can then just focus on our preparation for the season, but if things don’t work out that way I’m prepared to wait and see who becomes available via the loan market if needs be.’

Holloway says that given his signings so far this summer he’s very happy with where we are at the this stage, and he’s pleased with his options in most areas of the pitch, but obviously we clearly have to strengthen some places, but he’s in no ‘mad’ rush to do that if they aren’t the right additions.

It’s also reported that we won’t be pursuing interest in Stefan Maierhofer and giving him a further deal.
