Manager Ian Holloway has praised Millwall’s defensive efforts after we picked up a second away clean sheet on the bounce in the game against Wigan Athletic last night.

Speaking to the official site following the scoreless draw, that saw limited chances for both teams, Holloway was clearly delighted with our defensive improvements following more recent results.

New loan signing Andy Wilkinson also came in for special praise as he made his debut in the game despite only arriving on Monday.

‘Andy only arrived at the hotel on Monday night so didn’t even have a chance to train. But he looked like he had been there all his life. Andy is a very good, experienced player and he wanted to come here. I’m delighted to have him on board and he settled in brilliantly. He played his part in what was a good defensive performance overall.’

Holloway went on to say that obviously there were a few things we could’ve done far better in attack, but he feels fans would’ve still seen signs of improvement again, and despite the conditions, he felt we moved the ball well even our quality or composure wasn’t right in the final third.

With a few draws on the trot now Holloway just wants us to keep going game by game, but he does feel we’ll now go into the match at the weekend against Cardiff City with some decent confidence and momentum and he’ll be looking for us to get back to winning ways.
