Manager Ian Holloway has said that the Millwall boys did everything but score in our game this weekend against Fulham.
Having carved out plenty of opportunities on goal, sadly only three ended up on target and the game finished in a scoreless stalemate, but speaking to the official site the gaffer was convinced that if we keep making chances like that but show a greater composure, it won’t be long before we get them on target and convert them onto the scoresheet.
‘It is only a matter of time if we keep getting that many crosses into the box. There were enough opportunities for us and in the end we did everything but score. But I believe we have the players here who will score the goals for us between now and the end of the season. That is the only thing we are lacking at the moment.’
Defensively the gaffer was very pleased with us picking up the clean sheet and he went on to praise each of the back four for their performances in the game, especially an out of position Jimmy Abdou filling in at right back, but he knows what’s important now is that we build on this and make sure we click up front and be more clinical in the penalty box on Tuesday when we face Sheffield Wednesday because we want that win on home soil.
Lee Martin was also ruled out of the game having picked up a stress fracture against Leeds United – so something else the gaffer would probably want to see brought to an end was players beginning to drop like flies.
