Manager Ian Holloway has said he was delighted with the moves that Millwall managed to make in the January window, and he admitted that further moves had fallen down as well.

With eight arrivals in as Holloway shuffled the pack and tries to get our season going properly, he said of the business over the month to official site.

‘We have been incredibly busy this month with so many deals in and out of the club. There were some more targets that we had in mind for the past couple of days but they didn’t work out for one reason or another. The chairman and Andy Ambler have been excellent every step of the way and the club couldn’t have worked any harder over the past month.’

Holloway goes on to repeat this line that ‘things needed to be changed’ given our form and results this season, and again whilst it was planned to do this over the summer, there was a need to bring it forward to last month to give us the best shot possible.

‘I really like the look of all the players we have brought in and I think we are well equipped to improve our position in the league over the next few months. I’m pleased with what we have been able to do and the way I am looking at things is that the Reading game marked the start of a new season for us and so far we have four points from a possible six. Our performance at Nottingham Forest was very good and the group will only grow in confidence from that.’

With deadline day deals for Michael Tonge and Jordan Archer, the gaffer added.

‘We’ve now added Michael to our squad, who is a very good midfielder, and Jordan, who is a really bright young goalkeeper. If there are any more holes to fill then we can look to do something in the loan window if needs be. As always it is about the type of people you sign and I think everyone we have brought in has fantastic ability and mentality.’

He ended his interview by saying that he feels confidence and belief is growing on the training ground now following these changes, and more importantly there is a real growing spirit amongst the players now and the newbies are really finding their feet and settling in, so now the task is to kick on and ‘start picking up some more points.’
