Manager Ian Holloway was a happy man at full time yesterday after seeing Millwall take a deserved one nil win over Ipswich Town.

Mick McCarthy’s boys are play off hopefuls, and Holloway knew it would be a tough test from the get go, so to see the shift we put in and to then come out with all three points was an utter delight for him.

Speaking to the official site following the game, Holloway explained.

‘I asked them for certain things and that’s what they gave me. I’m delighted for the players, I really am. We fought, got stuck in and deserved it. You have to play from your defence and Danny and Shane were outstanding. They gave it everything they had and we got the goal, which was a nice slice of luck for us.’

Holloway went on to praise the home crowd for the way they got right behind both him and the team and he commented that with Kenny Jackett being here for five years, he’d love to stay longer than that because he’s never felt so wanted in his entire life – even as a player – given how he’s been received at the club.

From the game the other bonus for Ollie would’ve been seeing his first signing for us, on loan Ryan Frederick’s grab a goal on his debut, and also the clean sheet, but went on to say that it’s off to Portugal they go now to really build on the team spirit and so he can really get them working as he says it’ll be three sessions a day and he’ll be controlling what they eat and when they go to bed and he’s really hoping that it will help everything gel far quicker and get their fitness levels right up for the coming games ahead.
