Manager Ian Holloway has said that striker Lee Gregory is the best £250,000 he’s ever spent in football as his strike gave us all three points against Brighton on Friday evening.
Speaking to the official site following the game, the manager couldn’t have been more pleased with Gregory’s strike or the overall performance we put in to get the hard earned victory.
‘Lee Gregory is the best £250,000 I’ve ever spent. He did what Lee Gregory does. I’m so proud of him and I’m really pleased not just with his goal, but with the way he played for us up front.’
Gregory wasn’t the only person in for praise, as the manager also picked out defender Danny Shittu following his committed and commanding performance.
‘Danny was absolutely magnificent, he really was. He came in and made a big difference for us at the back. We’ve proved that we can win by getting back to the things we’re good at. It’s a fantastic victory for us all.’
Ollie goes on to say that he was hoping last week and the defeat to Middlesbrough in that fashion particularly would be a one off, and he feels that with how the team responded in training, and came to a difficult place in the Amex, despite Brighton’s struggles so far this season they do have quality, they have shown it was an awful day at the office but not something that he should get too carried away with in terms of his disappointment because to a man people stood up to be counted and whilst it was a tight win, he felt he was very deserved.
‘Let’s get on with it now, I want us to focus now on trying to get a win at home, because two result on the bounce would be big for us. The team have done me proud and we need to build on it.’
With summer signing Angel making his debut, the manager was pleased with the 28 year old’s performance because following his calf injury, he knows he’s playing catch up but he felt alongside Shaun Williams he showed signs of what he can bring to the club when he gets properly fit so it was a night of positives for the gaffer.
