Manager Ian Holloway has said that he’s hoping to welcome back Scott McDonald to the squad when we take on Stevenage this weekend.
We head to The Lamex on Saturday for a 3pm kick off, and Holloway told the official site that with McDonald missing out on the Tuesday game against Dartford, he was hoping that he could at least give him a run out in the second half to start building his fitness to the same level as the other lads, as obviously the striker has missed a bit of time now with a slight thigh strain.
He did however return to training properly on Thursday, so it’s looking likely he’ll at least be amongst the subs.
Having used all 26 players in the game against Dartford with many getting a good 45 minutes under their belt, the gaffer also admitted that was what he’s likely to do again this weekend as the result doesn’t bother him, he just wants everybody to get a good challenging run out.
‘The lads need 45 minutes and they should feel better and stronger after the Dartford game. We want to try and play better than we did the other day and score more goals than we did the other day. I said to the lads that we managed to get a clean sheet with two totally different teams at Dartford and we scored one goal, so hopefully we’ll move on from that and take on a tougher team in Stevenage.’
