Striker Stefan Maierhofer has said everybody was disappointed in the dressing room following our three one defeat to Huddersfield at the weekend.
Having gained the man advantage with the scores set at one a piece, our returning big man knew it was the perfect chance for us to kick off a ‘big week for the club’ with a victory and all three points, but in the end we didn’t even take a point from the game.
Speaking to the official site he explained that despite the disappointment following the game though, everybody was confident we could get back to winning results.
‘I was happy last week when I didn’t score and we won at Nottingham Forest, it is so disappointing to lose this game, I thought at times that we played well.’
His first half equaliser in the game was the first since he rejoined us for a second spell.
‘On Tuesday at Birmingham I will be happy if we played badly and win. It is a big week for us with games at St Andrews and Elland Road but we can turn this around. I am confident of that.’
Maierhofer goes on to say that his confidence in us turning it around comes mainly from the spirit within the camp, and for him he sees a lot of similar signs to his first spell at the club when we did of course turn things around and avoid relegation, and this time round we have a few more games to achieve that so it shouldn’t be as difficult a task as this time last season.
‘We got out of it then and I feel we have enough about us to get out of the bottom three. It’s a big week but we will be in training on Monday and ready to go again.’
