With Millwall tasting victory over Peterborough and then having a free weekend of action with the international break this weekend, manager Neil Harris has said we can keep the momentum and confidence from our last win by ensuring we have a productive few days on the training ground working on improving ourselves even further ahead of this Saturday’s match against Crewe Alexandra.
Speaking to the official site Harris knows that it would’ve been better had we had another quick fixture to build on the last win, but we have to make our rest count for something now and ensure we are in the best possible shape moving forward so we can capitalise on any elements of fatigue that others have.
‘I’d rather be back in action and playing but in some ways it might do us some good to have a breather. There is a lot of work that we want to get into the boys. There are areas that we have identified where we want to improve, without a shadow of doubt, and it will give us an opportunity to get people back fit. Sometimes, on the back of an important win, you can still enjoy the moment and carry the momentum.’
As part of that break, today’s under 21 Development Squad fixture saw a few first teamers in action as they improve their own fitness.
As well as youngsters Jamie Philpot and Alfie Pavey, Jack Powell, Paris Cowan-Hall and John Marquis all got a run out in the three one victory over Leeds United.
A brace from Pavey and a Keaton Wood goal gave us the win, and Powell, Cowan-Hall and Marquis all got 90 minutes.
