Manager Neil Harris yesterday gave his thoughts on Millwall’s fixture list for the return to the Championship in 2017/18.
With Millwall knowing we now open the next campaign with a trip to Nottingham Forest and the City Ground, before taking in round one of the EFL Cup at home to Stevenage the following midweek, Harris told the official site that he expected the travelling fans to create a ‘cracking atmosphere’ on the opening day of the next campaign.
‘There is so much to look forward to for everyone connected with Millwall. The Championship is such a competitive division and we know just how tough each and every fixture is going to be, no matter when they take place. But to start away to Nottingham Forest – a huge club – is great for us and I know it is one the fans will be excited for. We will take a big following there which will help contribute to a cracking atmosphere.’
Harris went on to say.
‘Bolton proved just how good a side they are last season and Ipswich are always very strong at this level of football. They are two tough games to kick us off at The Den but I’m pleased to have consecutive home games early on. Naturally your eyes are immediately drawn to the busiest periods, particularly Christmas, and I’m delighted to be at home on Boxing Day. That is great news for the fans, the players and staff.’
Adding.
‘We’ve got some huge games to look forward to in the final month of the season, especially Villa at home on the final day. I’m incredibly excited and can’t wait for pre-season training to start next week.’
