Manager Neil Harris has said he’s ‘extremely proud’ of the fact we have three players off on international duty this international break.
With Shane Ferguson, David Forde and Jimmy Abdou all now off on their travels to represent Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Comoros respectively in their games this month.
Of course it means all three will be missing for the Easter Weekend games against Bradford City and Burton Albion, but for Harris he’s pleased they have the international opportunity and he wants to see all three of them grab it with both hands.
Speaking to the official site, Harris said he had no concerns with them going out despite the testing fixtures we face whilst they are gone.
‘It’s a privilege and an honour to play for your country and I fully support any players who receive a call-up. I’m extremely proud of all three of them and delighted that they have the chance to go away with their national squads. While they’ll be missed over the weekend, it’s a big chance for the likes of David Forde and Shane Ferguson to try and cement a place in their country’s side for the European Championships. We wish them every success over the next week or so and I’ll be keeping a keen eye on their progress.’
