Manager Neil Harris has said that Millwall have had an ‘excellent’ week of training ahead of our return from Portugal on Wednesday.
Spending time out in the Iberian Peninsula to work on fitness and tactics ahead of the coming 2017/18 Championship campaign, we also took in two behind closed doors friendlies to bring the squad on further, and Harris said that although there’s ‘loads of work’ still be done ahead of the kick off against Nottingham Forest on August 4, he felt the last week had gone as well as it possibly could’ve done.
Speaking to the official site Harris admitted there were a number of positives he could take from the week.
‘It’s been an excellent week. We’ve come through it with no injuries and nearly every player completed every single training session. It has also been a fantastic bedding in period for the new signings.’
Harris went on to say that the attitude of the players to the work that he’d laid out for them had been perfect.
‘My players’ application and desire to learn was first class, both on the training field and in the classroom through video messages. We’ve played two friendlies whilst out here, one against a direct English team and another against a technical Portuguese side, which has given us two completely different tests ahead of the new season.’
He ended by explained.
‘However, we are now looking forward to getting back home. There is loads of work to do before we travel to Nottingham Forest, such as our combination play.’
