Manager Neil Harris has said he knows that Millwall face an incredibly difficult test tonight as we face off against Blackburn Rovers in what is a must win game for us.
With us sitting four points from safety, our recent run of form has given us a very good chance of beating the drop now, and the point against Cardiff will either be hailed as a massive one or two points dropped depending on what happens over the remaining three games of the season.
Speaking to the official site ahead of tonight’s kick off, Harris explained that whilst he wouldn’t quite call the trip to Ewood Park a ‘must win’ game he knows effectively it is for our survival hopes.
‘It’s a huge game for the club with the situation we’re in. We know it is going to be an extremely difficult test. They’ve got some really good players and an exciting style of play. The goals they have got in the team are huge. They have got an expensive squad with some real firepower. It’s another challenge for us but is one we are certainly looking forward to.’
As for team news, we will be without Shaun Cummings, Ed Upson and Shaun Williams – as well as obviously Carlos Edwards – and Harris went on to explain that given how the fixtures have fallen of late, what we might have gained in momentum we have lost in freshness, so he will be picking as strong a side as he can and one that he feels is good enough to get all three points but a lot of work will have gone into the line up tonight because he has to consider fatigue.
‘We will pick an Xl we feel is capable of competing and getting a result. There is a lot of thought going into what side we are going to pick. At the moment we are looking like a good group of players. The work ethic, the togetherness and the bond in the group are outstanding. That certainly makes it easier for me.’
