Manager Neil Harris has said that he and the boys are ‘highly motivated’ for the FA Cup second round clash against Wycombe Wanderers at The Den this weekend.
Having seen another blip in our League One form in the game last weekend against Burton Albion, the gaffer is looking for a response from the players and he’s looking for the exact same response they showed following the Fleetwood defeat where we then bounced back to winnings ways against Bury.
Speaking to the official site in his pre game press conference, Harris explained that everybody at the club wanted to see us book our place in the third round draw.
‘Against Bury last Saturday we showed many of the qualities we need to reproduce week-in, week-out from now on. We are still in three competitions, with a very busy and exciting run of games in front of us before the end of the year. It is up to us to ensure that we continue to have plenty more to look forward to.’
As for Saturday’s opposition more specifically, he went on to say.
‘Wycombe, like ourselves, will be highly motivated by the prospect of progressing through to the Third Round of a great competition and what that may bring in the New Year. We are desperate to be in the hat for Monday night’s draw and with that in mind I expect another performance of commitment and quality to give us every chance of achieving that goal.’
Of course the third round stage is where Premier League clubs enter and the benefits of a scalp and financial boosts can’t be underestimated.
