Manager Neil Harris has said he’s hopeful on gaining extensions for both Newcastle’s Shane Ferguson and Wolves George Saville.
24 year old Ferguson made the move to us from the Premier League side back in early August, and in his time with us, he’s taken in 20 appearances – 12 starts – with a goal return of two which came in the four one victory over Colchester on November 21.
22 year old Saville came in from the Championship side in October and has 12 starting appearances to his name so far and been great cover for Nadjim Abdou whose spent two months out with a shoulder problem.
With both players now coming to the end of their stay at The Den, the South London Press have the gaffer confirming that contact has been made with both of their parent clubs, and he’s hopeful that he’ll get positive responses shortly.
‘They know my thoughts but whether they can stay or will go back to compete for their first teams has not yet been decided. We are not tied to the transfer window, though. We will continuously monitor whether we need to add to the squad and what kind of players and personalities we might want. Our recruitment department never stops and I never stop thinking about whether we need to strengthen. We have a continuous dialogue about loan players – both those playing for us and ours who are at other clubs, like Paris Cowan-Hall, John Marquis and Jack Powell.’
