The build up to this weekend’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Premier League side Watford is well underway and here manager Neil Harris has given an injury update.
Speaking to the official site as he met with the media this week, Harris explained that defender Shaun Hutchinson was likely to miss out as he wouldn’t ‘be rushed back’ and that means recent loan signing Jake Cooper could retain his place for the game that kicks off on Sunday at 12pm noon.
‘Shaun had a niggle in his calf and that’s why he missed the last game. We don’t want to aggravate it any further so we’re most likely looking to get him back for the Walsall or Coventry match next week.’
With Hutchinson’s being omitted from contention for the last game against Bradford City, 21 year old loanee Cooper did make his full debut for the club last weekend after completing his deal from Reading, and Harris was pleased with his performance and what he offered.
‘Jake played a full ninety minutes and that’s great for his fitness levels. I thought he was outstanding for us and looked a good combination with Byron Webster. He won headers and you can see that he’s played a lot of Championship football with the way he dealt with movement around the box.’
Harris ended by saying that Harry Smith would also continue to be monitored after he picked up a knock in the Under 23 victory over Queens Park Rangers last weekend.
‘He didn’t make the trip to Bradford either because he’s had a dead leg. He’s another one we will assess, other than that we hope to have a fit and healthy squad.’
