Manager Neil Harris has dusted himself down following the two one loss to Barnsley at Oakwell at the weekend and turned his attention to the January transfer window and two of our loanees in the shape of George Saville and Shane Ferguson.

Saying it would be ‘brilliant’ if we could keep hold of Saville for longer, he does expect that he will return to parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers as the last game he was eligible for was Barnsley last weekend.

The 22 year old since arriving to us on a short term basis back in October has made 15 appearances.

As for Newcastle United’s Ferguson, he remains eligible for one more game before his loan naturally expires, and speaking to the official site Harris explained.

‘With George, I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes back to Wolves. George and Shane have done really well for us and gave us a real good boost to the squad because it’s not the thickest one. George’s loan has now finished and I’d imagine that Kenny Jackett is now going to want to take him back, have a look at him and cover his squad, which is not the biggest also. As much as we would like to do something with George we will have to see how the next couple of days develop. We’ve got an opportunity to do that before Saturday (Oldham) but I’m not expecting too much from it if I’m being honest. If we can keep George then brilliant, but if not then we wish him all the best to go back.’

Moving more briefly onto Ferguson, he went on to add

‘With Shane, his last game is next Saturday. He made a difference when he came on against Barnsley, putting some great balls into the box, and we will be speaking to Newcastle.’
