Manager Neil Harris has spoken of his delight at Play Off semi final success over Bradford City on Friday evening.
Having the advantage from the first leg tie at Valley Parade, Millwall welcomed them back to The Den for the second leg, and played out a one all draw – meaning Millwall book their place in the League One Play Off final with a four two aggregate win.
Speaking to the official site in his post game press conference, Harris explained.
‘I’ve got nothing but praise for the players. Over the two legs I think we really deserved it. To come out on top against a very good Bradford team is a great achievement. I’m delighted for the players. We had to stand strong and come through spells of adversity when they put pressure on us in both legs. Then, at the other end, we had to show quality, and some of our attacking play both tonight and last Sunday was top drawer. We knew how tough this Semi-Final would be so I have to give so much credit to my players.’
Harris went on to say.
‘I think Lee’s equalising goal up at Bradford has won us the tie. To score so soon after they did and quieten the crowd at that stage in the game was crucial, and we really built from that. Tonight I think our crowd were so important. They really got behind the players and I have to give praise to the fan base. They created the type of atmosphere I asked of them and I’m pleased we are able to reward them with a trip to Wembley.’
So of course, Wembley again now.
‘It will be a real honour to lead this club and this team out at Wembley. It is the very best place to play your football, but it’s only enjoyable if you got out there and win. It is in no way a day out for us. We will be going there to win, as will Barnsley, and I’m sure it will be a very good game. They have done brilliantly well to get to this position, as have we, and it’s an occasion to look forward to.’
