Manager Neil Harris has confirmed that midfielder Shaun Williams will be out for around the next three months having sustained knee ligament damage.

Williams missed out on the defeat to Barnsley on Saturday with the injury and speaking to London News Online as he met with the press post game, Harris confirmed the expected lay off for the player and whilst he knew it was a blow given his form so far this season, it also represents an opportunity for Ryan Tunnicliffe to establish himself at the club.

‘It is damage to his lateral ligaments in his knee. We`re looking at a period of about three months for his injury. It is a blow for the boy – his form has been outstanding, probably the best football of his career. He`s forged a really good partnership in the middle with George Saville.’

Harris went on to say.

‘It is disappointing for me as a manager and me as a club but it is an opportunity for someone else, other players, to stamp their authority on a starting position.’

As for Tunnicliffe more directly with him getting the start against Barnsley, Harris ended by saying.

‘Ryan Tunnicliffe got better as the game went along. It was a solid start. He`ll be learning all the time.’
