Manager Neil Harris has been speaking about how the seniors will get more game time in Saturday’s friendly against Barnet and Tuesday’s trip to Stevenage.
Having returned from our warm weather training camp out in Portugal in midweek, we have two quick friendlies to contend with as our pre season plans continue and Harris told London News Online that he planned to split the squad to ensure as many seniors as possible got good minutes under their belts with the Championship kick off now nearing.
‘The boys will be playing a lot longer on the Saturday and Tuesday. Most senior players will get nearer to 90 minutes, if not 90 minutes, in one of the games. We`ve got close to 22 senior players. I might leave some of those behind so that they can get a training session in, rather than watching from the sidelines.’
Harris went on to say.
‘Everyone has come back from Portugal fit. It is a great position for me to have every player fit on the 20th July. You read newspaper reports and speak to managers, they have three or four niggles. We`ve been fortunate so far. It is important in the season that we get a bit of luck in keeping injuries to a bare minimum and have a settled squad.’
