Manager Neil Harris has said that Millwall won’t be losing the services of striker Lee Gregory any time soon despite only six months being left on his current deal.

The 29 year old signed his current contract back in September 2016 and although that naturally expires next summer, Millwall have a 12 month extension option in that deal and Harris knows that we will take it up on the fan favourite.

Speaking to NewsatDen that gaffer said there was ‘no doubting’ that he’d be with us next season and he fully expected him to build on his 48 goals in 140 league games since he arrived at the club.

Harris also confirmed that talks were set to take place in the near future over a new deal fullstop for the player, irrespective of us optioning the clause we hold.

‘Lee Gregory is one of those players who has got an extension in his contract. Lee`s form has been excellent and he could easily have doubled, tripled the number of goals he`s got this season. Lee`s future lies with Millwall next season, there is no doubting that. It`s just when we get around to sitting down with him and exercising that option.’

Harris went on to say that all sides were pretty relaxed with the situation at the moment, knowing it would work itself out in the near future.

‘Lee is not knocking on my door and I`m not bringing Lee into my office to discuss next year. The option is there for us to take up. He`s a quality player, I love working with him. He`s a natural goal-scorer but has been really unfortunate in front of goal this year. But his performances have shown everyone his quality. The fans are singing his name two or three times a game and that`s because of his work-rate. He`s a team player, which is the biggest thing, but he`s a goal-scorer and wants to play games.’
