Over the weekend, Sky Sports were one of many to report that striker Lee Gregory had handed in a transfer request to Millwall as he sought a move to Rotherham United.

With the striker scoring 27 goals last season across all competitions as we made our way to the Play Off Final – losing out to Barnsley – Gregory’s future has been a hot topic in the press this summer with plenty of links, including to Celtic.

The latest of those was an apparent interest from Rotherham and Sky Sources ‘understood’ that a formal request had gone in in order to try and move their interest along.

The South London Press reported that sources inside Millwall had rubbished Sky’s report, and that no written transfer request had been made by the player.

With only 12 months left on his deal, the club do have a further 12 month option they can enact if they choose, and with reports that Rotherham had tabled a £1.2million offer that we had rejected, it’s believed Millwall may well be waiting to see if an improved offer comes in fort he 27 year old.

Later on Sunday, the same outlet had a club spokesman on the record as admitting that three offers have come in for the player, and summarily been rejected, as they do not meet our valuation.

‘We have received three bids from an unnamed Championship club which were unsatisfactory and do not meet the club`s valuation of the player. Lee is training in Portugal with his team-mates and has not – in any way, shape of form – handed in a transfer request.’

Despite being in Portugal with the first team on our week long training camp, Gregory himself took to twitter following Sky’s claim.
