Manager Neil Harris has praised Lee Gregory for his ‘character and determination’ following Tuesday’s victory over Peterborough United.

Hosting Peterborough at The Den for the midweek game, Gregory’s second half penalty saw us to all three points on the day, and speaking to the official site in his post game press conference, a delighted Harris was quick to praise our goalscorer on the day as he notched his 12th of the campaign to see us 16 games unbeaten and back in the Play Off spots.

‘In a dressing room, you know your characters. We’ve got men, we’ve got leaders. Lee Gregory showed his character, his determination and his desire to win the penalty in the first place, but then showed his goalscoring mentality to put a disappointing weekend behind him. Anyone that was at Oldham on Saturday saw the reaction of the players towards Lee – we all backed him. He is capable of being the match-winner and he’s been that for us plenty of times. I don’t often single out individual players, but tonight, Lee Gregory deserves praise. He’s been hugely reliable for us over my two years in charge. He’s put the weekend to bed – that’s gone. He’s answered the question and become the match-winner, so I’m delighted.’

The game was also our ninth straight clean sheet, and Harris was quick to say it was a credit to the work of the whole team and not just the goalkeeper(s) and backline.

‘We don’t really talk about it. We don’t rely on it – we’re just consistent with what we do. Everyone knows their jobs. It doesn’t matter what personnel I pick, we’re still consistent in our group ethos, our work ethic and our reliability. We’re also still creating chances in games. We want to keep the unbeaten run going, we want to keep the clean sheet record going. Eventually, someone is going to score past us and someone is going to beat us. But, at the moment, we’re enjoying the run and playing with real confidence.’
