Match winning striker Lee Gregory has been in front of the press following his goal that secured Millwall’s first ever win at the Amex Stadium last Friday evening.
The 15th minute finish in front of the cameras gave us all three points and a much needed win over struggling Brighton, and he told the official site.
‘It’s always good to get a goal, and a goal that wins a game is so much better. It doesn’t matter how it comes as long as the ball goes in the back of the net, that is all that matters. We had a great start and thankfully the lads stuck together to get the three points.’
With Gregory still adjusting to life in the Championship having made the step up from Conference football when he signed for us over the summer, he said himself that although he’s pleased with his impact at the club so far, he knows that as he gets more minute under his belt and grows his experience further, he can and will only get better and with manager Ian Holloway already saying he’s the best £250,000 he’s spent in football, that could well turn out to be a snip if he continues to develop as the gaffer hopes.
‘I’ve learned loads from the gaffer and a lot from the players as well. The players talk to me all the time in training, before the game, during the game, after the game – they try to help me out. I take it all in and try and do what I can on the pitch as best as I can.’
15 games, four goals isn’t a bad return as he continues finding his feet, if he can get himself into double figures during the second half of the campaign the confidence boost he’d get from that over the summer could be invaluable next season.
