Millwall have today announced the capture of former Fulham defender Shaun Hutchinson.
The 25 year old will be a free agent come July 1, and that’s when his contract at The Den comes into force as he joins as a free agent and becomes manager Neil Harris’ second signing of the summer following on from David Worrall.
He will sign a two year deal with a further 12 month option.
Having began his career with Scottish side Motherwell, he debuted for them back in 2009, making 140 appearances in total before he moved to Craven Cottage back in 2014.
Whilst with Fulham he made 31 appearances in his first year, and made another eleven last season.
Speaking to the official site as his signing was announced, Hutchinson explained.
‘I’m really happy to be here. I met up with Neil Harris last week and he really sold the club to me. The manager has been working very hard to get me in and that is a nice thing to know. Coming to work at a place where you are so wanted is a great feeling. I can’t wait to get going and am looking forward to putting on the Millwall shirt.’
Harris himself added.
‘Shaun is a player that as a club we have been aware of for quite a period of time. We tracked him diligently when he was at Motherwell and when he was moving down south we bid for him. We monitored him last season knowing that he was coming out of contract. He is a no-nonsense defender who likes to head it in both boxes and is very aggressive in his approach. Shaun adds competition to a very solid backline. He is a real winner with a lot to prove.’
