THE SERB!!

Just stumbled across this and the fact that he's injured but called up; and I can sort of see how this could happen without it being so contradictory, although I do think it seems very odd at first glance.

If we consider a player not match fit it wouldn't necessarily mean he was simply resting with his feet up. He could be doing most aspects of training but maybe light in some areas, or just doing certain parts of training, or specific strength and conditioning. The call up by Serbia does seem odd but like Peckham says maybe they just want him involved because he is a focal point for them going forward, and with today's squads being so ridiculously big I suppose they don't need to rely on everyone being match fit anyway. If we don't have the power to veto that we really can't apportion any blame to the club, and even if we did have the power to veto would we want to deny the lad the opportunity of being included in his national squad? I think not, providing we were assured he would be training suitably for his situation and his inclusion would not be detrimental to his fitness.

I know it's a weird thing to say, but I think we have to trust the club on this. There is clearly a bit more to it than the lad being badly injured and taken by Serbia anyway. I trust Millwall with this, and I'm not really one that feels the club have to explain in detail every strategic decision they make about players.
I'm a bit different with decisions that directly effect supporters, but I think they are entitled to the benefit of the doubt when it comes to keeping playing matters to themselves. My trust is probably misplaced, but there you go...

The main point is that, rightly or wrongly, national squads now have the first call on it.
This came around when teams like Man Ure & Liverpool were claiming players were injured for international friendlies despite having played the league game before and then the league game after.
FIFA stepped in to stop it and now national teams can require players to still attend so that they can assess the player themselves.

Have you not seen this post from Wippa?

“Apparently he needed an international call up to get around a legality with his visa. Turns out the Serb FA was doing us a massive favour all along.”

Conspiracy Theory

The Serb

All this stuff about the Serb’s injury was very curious. A chronological analysis of the events maybe gives some clarity.

  • Millwall identifies the Serb as a great target.
  • Serb is willing and the price can be agreed, but he can.t qualify for international transfer and work permit.
  • The Serb’s team (or Millwall) comes up with the idea that if he's on the national team the work permit problem is solved.
  • Serbian National Team gives him a call up.
  • Mysterious injury appears
  • Is ready to take the field but injury concern cancels his ability to play.
  • He now qualifies for a work permit. Work permit granted and transfer complete.
  • Comes back to UK and is sent to "super" specialist—who reveals that injury is really minor and he can start playing at the end of the international break.
Makes perfect sense. Keep this on the down low—don’t want the word to get out.

Wasn't the mysterious injury announced before the call up?

It's o.k. Your secret's safe with us. Keep it on a need to know basis.

Sense and Millwall social media aren't great bedfellows. It's best ignored so the club can be slated at every given opportunity and accused of being the victims of a scamming east European crime syndicate. Sadly, the recent transfer window knicker wetting, accusations, lies, undermining of Harris and general hysteria took as another step towards being on par with fucking Charlton.

A few year ago we'd be in stitches reading the absolute lunacy and tantrums that made their forum a source of comedy and ridicule. We're not at those levels by a long chalk yet but give it a generation and there won't be a fag paper between us.

They actually support and revere some of there former legends/managers. Curbishley, Bowyer and Brown. A loud section of our fans abuse, vilify and literally hate some our club legends because they have the front to return to a place that they love, care about and have literally shed blood sweat and tears for. In return they get abused, become the topic of lies, vendettas and their legend status counts for nothing.

You automatically become a cunt if you don't select players that the loudmouths demand. Fuck any context, lack of fitness, experience of merit just play him. If you don't bow to the loudmouths the lies and conspiratorial slurs get louder.

Millwall FC where a fan in the stand can overrule a manager, physio and coach. It continues on platforms like this. The refusal to accept the truth that is quite often staring us in the face. Nope he's a cunt and we know better. He's a shit player cause Harris signed, The other fella is shit cause Rowett signed him but not a fucking word until the next poor pass or wrong decision.

Rowett done nothing but good for this club. Harris the same but both have been hounded out. That Subbuteo headed, laptop Larry fraud was fucking wrecking our club and the loudmouths went quiet and declared that he's the man and we just need to be relegated for him to be a success :rotfl:

That's why i can't fucking laugh at those train licking Herberts anymore. And that's why sense and Millwall don't get on.

Fold the loudmouths

Love a legend

Fuck em all

I am lost as to what Peckham is railing about. My guess is that Ivonovic is going to be a great signing and along with the other young signings can form the base of great team for the future. Esse Emaku Kelly and Macaulay all seem very good and Esse seems to be coming into his own. Beginning with Luton I think a new door is opening and I bet Harris is delighted with his options. Azeez Mayor and Winatl have yet to be assessed. I think this team has the ability to be Millwall’s strongest and most exciting in decades. Watmore 4 goals—I must be dreaming, and it’s a good one. I think we have so much talent it may be a problem keep some happy with their playin time. That will be a task Harris will be happy to handle. COYL

Don’t forget Mayor.
