The Flag day

Talking to a couple of fellas today in the roofing yard about football and they was saying about flag days and how everyone does it now, but i'm not 100% sure but said Millwall was the first ones to start it, one said it was birmingham zulus or Everton .

Flag day. When we choose an away day and Corby brings the flag with the names of those chaps no longer with us. It's a great day usually cause many an old face will make the effort. It's also an opportunity to get all the chaps together again and have a catch up and reminisce about the old days.

Did millwall start the trend as nearly every club in the country does it now i know the fella from pimlico started ours and got cj on board to raise a few quid for the less fortunate in health or incarcerated..

I honestly don't know mate. I doubt there's a definitive answer and it don't really matter in the grand scheme of things. But the flag aside we've always chucked in when someone was in their hour of need.

Chelsea night game at ours 84/85. Gets a bit lively outside the Crown and Anchor. A local cabbie ( Turk) has his car clumped with a few things in cross fire so parks up. Once it calmed down he went into the pub and explained that he's fucked by the damage caused. Bosh- within 5 minutes one of our lot has done a whip and hands over a few hundred quid to the cabbie who fucks off happy.
