This is a tough one to face tomorrow. They are not in great form but have a new manager with his first game at home. They are going to be busting a gut to impress him. Somebody posted on here that there are three types of teams in the Championship. There’s tough, aggressive and Luton. You can be sure they will take no prisoners and we have to be ready to match them physically and take our chances when we get them. It has been disappointing that there has been no news on the OS about the injuries to Leonard, Danny, Wintle and Azeez so team predictions can be difficult to make. I can only assume that the news on the injury front is not good and the club do not want to alert Luton of our shortcomings. Or, things are starting to pick up and two of the walking wounded could be in contention for tomorrow but they are keeping that News quiet to catch Luton on the hop. Well……I can but hope! One certainty is that both RBW and Scanlon should start as they were both very good on Tuesday. There were some that were not that good but I fear they will play as they’re no options. AN will have had his work cut out this week at Calmont Road picking them up after Tuesday’s last minute draw but that is what football managers do.
There is little doubt that Jensen will wear the gloves as I don’t think he could have done much more on Tuesday. It’s a whole different situation with Leonard and Danny. Pulled calf muscles and twisted knees have no quick fix so I predict that TC will step into an unfamiliar role at RB. I can’t see changes at CB with Tango and Cooper slotting in. I would like to see a change at LB but I don’t think that will happen and Joe will play there.
I would also like to see a change in central midfield but there are limited options if Wintle is out or Billy is considered an impact sub. So it looks like Sav and Casper in the middle with Scanlon left and probably Watmore right with RBW as a ten. Now the big debate is whether we need legs upfront with limited scoring chances or height and strength with the chance of nicking a goal. I fear that AN will go with Langstaff with the Serb as an impact sub.
My thoughts are,
Jensen
TC Tango Cooper Joe
Casper Sav
Watmore RBW Scanlon
Langstaff
Subs Roberts Hutch Murray Wes Billy Honeyman ACon Serb Kendall
