I totally agree mate, in my original post i did say j thought the agent had "held us to ransom" .
On the face of it it looks bad busisiness but We'll never know the full facts and figures of what was agreed ,but obviously to me at least Tangas agent was always holding the whip hand which looks the case should the quoted figures be correct.
I always thought he would'nt be with us for long,lots of positive media coverage on his performances and very good reports from inside the club on his attitude/professionalism etc.
I would'nt blame him one bit if he moves on for what will undoubtably be a lot more money and given his well documented injury issues /history ìt makes sense to earn as much as possible while he is fit and healthy.
Just not weeds!

My rule is to enjoy players like him whilst they're with us and don't have any expectations of them.

I get yours and everyones point - But the philosophy of the club is different compared to a couple years ago.

Realistically we should be surviving in the championship without Tango. But it was also obvious we wouldn't get promoted last season, so surely the only reason we signed him was to earn a nice pay packet at the end of it & him buggering off to the Prem... to suit BOTH parties?

I'm just a bit wounded that his next club are going to make a lovely profit off of us.
 
Obviously the release clause reduces our bargaining position. However, if there's a bidding war, surely the fact that he's contracted to us gives us the chance to get a slightly higher fee. While we can't refuse to sell once a bid of 1.2m comes in, aren't we free to sell to whichever club offers the highest fee to us?
 
Once the release clause is met HE will choose where to go, there will be no bidding war, he may speak to multiple clubs that have triggered it, but he’ll go to either who offers him the best terms or wherever he feels his career will be best served.

The only bidding war will be between the rivals for his signature and that will be a bidding war entirely centred around his wages.

Don't think this is true--Esse went for a good deal more that his release as Palace wanted him badly.

Working nights woke up with a negative view. Just a feeling. club have sold record season tickets on the back of last season. All i’am reading/hearing is our best players touted off to other teams. 60 odd years supported this club never changes hope i’am wrong just think the fans get mugged off time after time

Been a very long time since we have lost a player for less than his value. Since Harris came in he first time the club has changed a great deal, mostly for the better.
Tanga's situation is what it is, we are still a very small club when it comes to the top end of English football so last summer was a case of never getting him to sign unless there were clauses in place that suited him.
If no one is positive abut the next few years perhaps they never will be.

Mugged off with what? We are an established (small) championship club. We are financially well run. We have just missed out on playoffs last few of years. We have broke our transfer record twice in last couple of seasons. We amassed 20m for 2 players. We've brought a decent manager in. We are transitioning to a new footballing strategy. All against the backdrop of tragic circumstances and internal wrangling.

Maybe you are supporting the wrong team, just a thought.
