Yeah, in a way I suppose they are...
I don't mind Geordies and Mackem's and I have friends and in-laws from up that way. Most of them are a good laugh with a decent sense of humour (well, the ones I know are).

Always thought they had a bit more class than Newcastle. Not quite as many shirt wearing mongs.

Don’t mind Sunderland. Got a soft spot for them. Proper club, proper fans and very passionate for their club. Had a good mate who lived down here but was a ST holder for them. Went up for nearly every home game. He was a diamond. Died in a car accident about 19 years ago. He took me up for one of our games v them years back. I sat in their end with him and his mates and they all knew I was Millwall but was spot on. Drinking with them in their pub beforehand as well, they made me very welcome.

This is going to be my girlfriends first Millwall game had to transfer my season ticket to Kitchener block 28 for this game so I could get seats together, should be an interesting experience for her being so close to the away fans

Lot of respect for them, semi in Manchester i met a few seaburn lads in our hotel, went on the piss with them all night, became very good pals with one and went to his wedding. Been to a few away england games with him and upo there 2-3 times a year. Proper club

We met an old Sean Connery lookalike Sunderland fella in our hotel the day before the semi final. He was on his own in a hotel full of wall. We had him join us and had a laugh. Every time we sang a Wall song he countered with a Sunderland one (could‘nt understand his songs much but he was a good bloke). We met him the next day and took a tram with him to the match. I remembered him saying we had such a bad Rep but we were the nicest fans he’d ever met and was gonna write a letter to Sunderland FC

Funny, cos I've always thought of it as the other way around, in that Sunderland are the proper club up that way.

I had a workmate that was Mackem, he was a top bloke. In my experience supporters of clubs such as Sunderland or Middlesbrough actually have a bit of respect for us, and certainly don't dismiss us as 'scum' like many other more fashionable football clubs' supporters do.

Also got time for them, though I won't forget a story on another channel about them turning up 70s early doors and walking past a cafe full of wall. One had a full milk bottle smashed over his canister, blood and milk pouring down his boat. Sunderland colours. Apologies to anyone of tender sensibilities.

Never heard that before. They are the polar opposite in my opinion. No delusions of grandeur. Very much like us in many ways, tough, proud and passionate about thier club and love a row. There's a fair bit of mutual respect between us.

The day we played them in the semi------------ i get home and and i have a load of texts from two of there chaps that i got to know from England turnouts. One saying---- You're lot are completely fucking insane and unhinged mate, the lot of ya. Fucking mad cockney cunts jumping out of limousines wanting a toe to toe with wah lads. Ten of you's fronting up to 25/30 mackems. Gets further down the road like and there's a handful of your loons legging twenty or so mackems and two of wah lads oot cold on the pavement like. Youngsters, oaps all fucking game like P, even lassses

Blurry? You can say that again mate. It was a few months before i gave up boozing and sniffing. Six of us must have done four cases of beer and and a Q of oats between London and Manchester. Few of my lot had been on it from the previous day and no sleep in between.
