Millwall boss Neil Harris pays tribute to Matija Sarkic after tragic passing at 26

Millwall have opened an online book of condolences for Sarkic and a tribute area has been opened at The Den for fans to lay flowers and other memorabilia.

It looked like Neil was on the edge of tears through the whole interview, clearly very close to his team.

Really awful news. Always seems so much worse when people die so suddenly and their family and friends have no chance to say their goodbyes.

My lad wanted a photo with Sarkic when he was mascot last game of the season. I'm pleased he managed to do that. He said Sarkic is so nice, and spoke to him and his mate for ages about football in general. He's so happy he also has his signature on his shirt. Wants to frame it and has pride. Meeting someone you like and it actually making your day is few and far between, Sarkic was quality was him and he certainly made his day for sure. Just goes to show some people should always meet their hero's, as some are actually great. RIP Sarkic.

Me too P. it was all he could do to hold back the tears. When things like this happen it really brings home the reality of the Millwall Family doesn’t it? As we say a club like no other.

It says a lot about the fella. Everyone I know that has met him, or the kids have met him say the exact same thing about him as a bloke.

But it also says a lot about us as ‘Wall. We all know it, but we are a family and we do look after our own first.
