Peckham, this is out of order...................
i remember this day as though it were yesterday. i flew back from America.
No ticket to be had, we drove up to Hull, i went in to the home end q and was approached by a local copper.
Where are you from ?? he said .
quick as a flash i said "Banton road"
"where's that ? " he replied.
"By t canal" said i"............ its really strange how in that instant one can talk bollocks in a split second, as i hadn't thought it through at all.............
"ok" said he and we were in.
not only that, but when the whistle went i was on the pitch, and in all of the papers and TV the next day with Jimmy Carter ........................
