Match Thread Millwall v Notts Forest KO 3pm

Yet again a substitution which was a mystery. With Ojo on the pitch we were a threat. He goes off to be replaced by Ben.
There ended any goal threat.
Why couldn't he do a like for like change?
Bring on Burey or Mahoney. At least there would have been some crosses coming in.
I would have also took Afobe off and brought on Smith.
Schoolboy error and the substitution's didnt led to our defeat.

Looks like Bradshaw could have a serious knee injury, just got some form and scoring, signed s new deal…. Couldn’t make this shit up you really can’t…. How is our luck

He couldn’t, we’d already used 2 subs
Sorry, I meant that he should have put Smith and Mahoney on instead of the earlier subs! Smith has previously frightened the Forest defence and Mahoney could have supplied crosses where Smith might have done some damage!
Can’t blame that on Rowett, too many players not good enough 🤷‍♂️
And some of those players were bought (or loaned in) by Rowett.

Evans - not good enough (league 2 player at best)!
Afobe - not enough goals/too many misses (league 1 player at best)!
Bennett - often injured/not enough goals this season!
Kief - brilliant first 10 games of season - now hardly picked
Malone - performance wise blows hot/cold - currently minus 120!
Ojo - pacy and skilful - hardly any end result!

If I were Rowett, I’d start next week playing the youngsters in place of players like Afobe, Bennett, Ojo, Kief, etc. We’re not going to get relegated and we won’t get to the play offs, so use the remaining games to give the youngsters a decent run of games, so they can get used to the cut and thrust of the Championship! Then, at the end of the season, send Afobe and Ojo back, and the money saved on their wages can go towards improving the contracts of the youngsters who (hopefully) have given their all since the Forest game - and who will be starting in their rightful positions at the start of next season!

Malone cost us today and against palace. Rid or rest?
Watched Sky highlights and I reckon it’s Bennett who takes the throw. He tries to reach Malone but the ball goes to one of their players leaving Malone marooned upfield.

I appreciate Malone isn’t flavour of the month for some but their goal was down to Bennett and no one else 🤷‍♂️

Definitely Malone....

They were good enough first half Purley.

If I was palyers faltering at different times then I would say your right, but It seems that they all regress collectively. Like a switch Is flicked and the loose all Impetus and desire. Surely that has to come from the management? You can't become that negative that quickly without their being something wrong. Too often, like we were the second half against Palace, we give up our serious attacking Intentions In favour of dropping off and making mistakes due to either, paradoxically, rushing or over cautiousness. The effort Is still there but It's too often wasted.
I think we burn out to quick so revert to dropping deep. Players are blowing out of their aris after 60-70 minutes, whether that's the demands on them or a fitness issue i don't know but it's been regular trait this season.

Smith only works if we losing and we can plant the ball on his nut, Rowett was never going to send him on whilst a point was up for grabs.
This. Which to me says GR isn't brave enough to go for the win when still goalless. One of either Burey or Mahoney should have been brought on with Smith.
You then have a bit of a chance to win the game. Even if it means risking a counter attack we should have made these changes. Instead we were on the back foot for a lot of the second half and it was no surprise when forest scored.

This, the problem as I saw it today and most of the season exactly.

We really don’t have the quality in the squad so
most of our players are putting a lot of effort from the kick off, just to either stay in the game. Or alternatively take the game to the opposition as they did today which they did successfully for 35 minutes.
Again when we were on top we didn’t take our chances which in itself creates the pressures to push harder then the composure and decision making is affected. Then forest got a foothold in the game and I was happy to see half time.

We were unlucky with the injuries, ojo starting to look a threat going forward as I said he would a few weeks ago, just needs a bit of confidence and stay on his feet more . Some patience and more encouragement and theres a player in there.
Bradshaw would have scored the Benik chance second half . For all Beniks effort and running he needs to play inside the goal posts , that’s where he will score goals.
Take a leaf out of grabbans book, how many tap ins from 5 yards out does that horrible c… get. Especially against us.
The players are not fit enough to maintain the effort they need to put in , to make up for their lack of quality in championship .
Mitchell as well as he has played needs help.
Mahoney, Burey should of got on the park today to show the quality some of us believe they have.

Players IMO who lack the quality in midfield are Evans Kieftenbeld Thomson which is not hard to see. Malone defensively is poor we all know that.
Lenoard and Ballard have been missed.
Cooper had a better game today made a few blocks but pace non existent.
Hutchinson looks like he’s playing with an injury again.
Bart Danny and Murray thank Christ for them.
Jed will be gone by the end of the week, we don’t have much left.
Time to play the kids GR and spend what little we get for Jed wisely .
Hopefully this all makes sense as I am a little bit wasted
