Another of our young players stolen by Man City for peanuts a few years ago - apparantly being sold to Bayer Leverkusen for £10million. Dont know if we get any of this as part of sell on agreement.

No 1st team games for City. The whole thing stinks.

So with Darko Gyabi going to Leeds - City will get £ 15million with probably the best part of f*** all coming to Millwall. Anyone know what we might get in sell ons ?

If we had any sense we should of had at least 20% of any future sell on profit but then again this is Millwall we are talking about.

Not sure there was anything Millwall could have done in this case. He was a kid when he left us and cannot be held to a contract.
One ways in which us lot outside of the prem get f****d over.
The FA could easily introduce sell on clauses for situations like this but then Man City would only have 10 million less to splurge on talent and that would be at detriment of the premsh!t.

Even as kids they are on some sort of contract hence why a compensation fee is paid.

It will be interesting to see how these former Millwall kids get on. I can recall the likes of Goma Lambu Cherno Samba and David Amoo, all being exciting prospects at a certain age. Though they all have had footballing careers to some extent, they never reached the high spots expected of them. The goalkeeper Yusef Mersin was another, like Amoo went to Liverpool, but found his level in the lower reaches of the Football League.

No, but the EFL need to protect their clubs from this sort of thing happening in the first place! Selling Lovelace to a Scottish club meant we got a pittance, compared to what we would have got had we sold him to any EFL or Premiership club! That ruling needs to be changed to make sure Scottish clubs pay the same amount of compensation as other EFL or Premiership clubs do!

Likewise, if a youngster like Lovelace, who isn’t under contract (and has hardly kicked a ball), gets noticed by another club, then make sure the buying club has to follow the following rule: that they have to play that player in at least 15 of their 1st team games of that season, with a minimum 20 minutes game time!

That rule would help both the player and the selling club! Firstly, it would insure some game time for the player, and secondly, if the rule wasn’t adhered to, the selling club could be compensated, say to a maximum amount of £3M. This amount would cover the loss of not having the usage of that footballer‘s worth over a contracted term, as well as for the loss of a potentially good transfer fee, had he eventually signed a professional contract with us!
