Langstaff

Doubt he’s that good I’m afraid but, as a stop gap, he’s an honest hardworking player and I was very pleased he got his goal, especially after being denied earlier by a great save from their goalkeeper.

He makes intelligent runs and his positioning is also very good, he does not have the traits of a lower league player which is highlighted by his assists in the last two games, a lower league strikers mentality would be to score for himself, higher league strikers put the team first and if a team mate is in a better position to score they will take that option.

We could well have unearthed a gem only time will tell but the signs so far are good.

Feed him the right pass and he will score thats whats been la cking , full of energy and does make good runs , willhe get a start when the 2big lads are both fully fit .?

As a "stop gap" ................ ?????

That's it, someone throwing a negative about him, thank heavens normality has resumed.
I’m not knocking him, look at my comments immediately after the QPR game.
I was the first one to praise him.
It’s not a negative it’s just a fact:
He was only ever a third or fourth choice striker when we bought him and he only got in the team because of injuries and Nisbet pissing off.
Without any of the above he was behind, Bradshaw, Nisbet, Coburn & possibly the Serb. They were all injured or sold, so yes, that makes him a stop gap. He’s taken his chance well, no more, no less.
I’m too long in the tooth for knee jerk reactions, remember last season when Harding was the best thing since sliced bread? (until he wasn’t)

I immediately hoped and expected him to be better than Bradshaw and Nisbet.

He signed for three years i think and knows where the goal is. How are you defining a stop gap? Months, a year?
Not by his contract details.
I’m defining it in that he’s a stop gap until the main strikers are fit again, it’s as simple as that really. Every team has squad players and he was bought in as a squad player.
I hope coldblower is right and he’s better than Bradshaw “et al” but however he turns out the fact is that he wouldn’t have made the starting line up if the others were available.

He's scoring and assisting. Players don't get dropped for doing that. It's as simple as that really. The Boro bod is a loan, Langstaff isn't and has signed a long term deal so hardly a stop gap. In my opinion of course.

looks like a cracking signing. I know it’s early days but the best thing I like about him is his movement. He makes excellent runs which is helping us create lots as he’s surrounded by other busy players. He will assist and score goals at this level no problem.
I hope NH gets the rest of the to team to feed him the ball the exact same way his Notts County team mates did to keep him in a 'familiar' setting... would be great if he was our 'formidable' lone striker. To me he just seems a little 'lost' at the moment and feel he 'needs to prove' himself... we know what he can do (and yes he has gone up a few levels) however, he more than knows where the goal is but needs the delivery atm.

Agree about his runs and my only concern is we need players with the vision to spot it and feed him. DeNorre is the only one one who comes close.

Nisbet scored another the weekend. Hopefully keeps it up and raises his price tag... or if he fancies coming back and fighting for his place at Wall. Win, win regardless.
