Just Back v the Rams

A good performance which we completely dominated but we only got a point.

We were on the front foot from the off. There was some good midfield play from Sav and especially Casper. Watmore was busy on the left and Esse was full of tricks on the right. He looked a real threat at times and Langstaff looked lively. There were two good chances in the first half. A lovely ball inside from Esse to Langstaff hit the post and there was second which was wide. We definitely had the better of the first half and Jensen didn’t have a save to make in the first 45

No changes second half and we picked up where we left off. There was lots of good pressing but the ba didn’t quite fall for us. They had a small chance but Jensen smothered it at the near post. We continued to press but eventually need fresh legs with Azeez replacing Watmore. Then the Serb came on but then we conceded. A corner was flicked on and it sailed to the far post and was bundled in. They went nuts. A few minutes later a clearance from them rebounded and the Serb was on it like a flash. He steamed forward, went round the keeper and slotted it home. The Den went nuts. The introduction of Kelly and Wintle for Sav and Casper at the death made little difference and the game ended evens.
Jensen had little to do but maybe could have done better for their goal. Leonard was great and was my MOM. Tango and Cooper were solid and Joe was busy. Sav and Casperwere excellent and Esse was full of tricks. Honeyman was busy and so was Langstaff. Azeez had some moments, the Serb scored an excellent goal. Kelly and Wintle hardly broke sweat.
A good point but it should have three. I am writing this in the executive suite after a 70th birthday celebration where I met Lenny the Lion and two blokes from Sweden. Hence the late report!

Thought Tanganga was poor today (wait for the abuse!), out-muscled in the air and sluggish closing down.

If Cooper was 4 inches shorter he wouldn’t get anywhere near the first team, two misplaced simple passes created 2 of their better chances.

Agree Lenny MOM again and special mention of Langstaff, if only NH had the courage to play him up front with Ivanovic 🤷‍♂️

Another game we should have won. It's becoming an issue. Performances have generally been very good but points matter at the end of the day.

I love Honeyman as a player, he gives his all but he is not a number 10. He is the second nearest player to goal after the striker, yet he cannot score or create goals. As @PurleyLion said above, why not play Ivanovic and Langstaff? Or play Esse there.

Two wins in ten is not great at all. We should have more points but we haven't.

A worry highlighted even more today is how poor we are at set pieces. No one to take a decent corner and our free kicks are a joke especially ones in dangerous areas. Sure Leonard used to take a decent free kick? The “floaters” as corners ain’t worked for some time. Still we are playing well but it’s making for a weird season so far as we deserve to be at least 8 points better off. Really like the look of the Serb and he’s only going to get better. Honeyman is a hard working honest player, but your number 10 is meant to be a goal threat, would love to see Esse given a chance there.

You must be watching a different game Purley re Tanga. 🤷‍♂️

As always, thanks for the report., Silver

I thought that we were pretty good again today. We were dominant without creating too many clear cut chances. Leonard my MOM. Thought that they were decent defensively but very limited in attack.

Having said all that, as BP mentioned in another thread, we were lucky not to concede a penalty. Sav definitely caught their player who was clearly on-side in the build up.

No abuse From me.. Tango wasn't at the races at all today. Sluggish in all respects, and not for the first time.

Leonard MOM massive performance. If only Bryan could do similar. Thought he had another 'Mare' today. Derby had done their homework. Endless stream of dangerous crosses from his side, we were fortunate there.
Langstaff does brilliant setting up opportunities for an onrushing No.10, but can't be in 2 places at once.
Jensen your distribution is ponderous and is a free gift of possession to the oppo'', and get an 'effing Cap. In
Harris I still trust.

Silly question but if we were that dominant why would Leonard be MOTM?
Honeyman for me, defending one minute and winning a corner the next (he even cleared a Derby corner with a header at one point)
Langstaff works hard but is he the answer?
Maybe if we played two up front but for whatever reason we don’t.
The Serb took his goal well so who do you start next week?
Esse, keep it simple, you don’t need to do a trick every time.
I thought Watmore was doing ok before Azeez came on.
Jenson, should come off his line more & could have done better for the goal.
What are they coaching him?
Happy Birthday Silver! 🎂

we set up very attack minded today think that's why Bryan started
langstaff is another lee gregory works hard but looks like he will score 1 in 10 chances if were lucky

Poorest game I've seen tango have, Yates clearly gets under his skin. Cooper, don't get me started. Changes needed.
David Pleat in with directors, in an advisory capacity, is interesting

Langstaff scored goals for fun at Notts County so I’m hoping his strike rate is better than that but:
Does anyone know if he played up front for them on his own or in a front two? It’s a tough ask doing it on your own
