A really decent performance full of energy and drive and a hard earned three points.

They started brightly and pressed us back almost from the start. The message was clear to us and that was get your foot in, close down at every opportunity and deny them space. Everybody was at it and our first chance came after 6 minutes. A good ball to Jed who played it inside to Bennett but his shot was weak and easily saved. They had other ideas. They played the ball around well in the middle but their final ball forward was not quite good enough. Bolasie looked a danger on their left but Danny was tight on him and eventually he was moved across to their right. They had about 15/20 minutes where they pressed us back but eventually they ran out of a little bit of energy. We started to come back into it and a good ball down the left to Molly saw a pass to Bennett and another inside to Jed but his shot was saved for a corner. From the corner Cooper headed over. We were not to be outdone. A great interception from Mitchell and a better pass down the line saw Jed turn on the after burners. He took it right to the byline, hit a firm cross to Bennett but their defender just stuck his leg out and diverted it into his own net for 1-0. It was no more than we deserved.

They pressed very hard to get back into it but again their final ball let them down. With 5 to go before the break Jed hit a great pass to Danny down the line but his cross across the goal was to no one. There was no more drama before the break.

Warnock was clearly not a happy camper and made a triple substitution at the break bringing on the dangerous Watmore, Fletcher and Mendez Laing. We were up against it. They poured forward and I thought this was going to Loftus Road mark 2. If only we could keep them out for 10/15 minutes and burn them off. They had other ideas and pressed us back really hard. we kept our shape, got our foot in and defended resolutely. Hutch was a tower and so was Murray. We got to almost 20 minutes of burn off before we created a chance. Danny got the ball on the right, went cross field and found Molly who drilled a cross goal wards but it was to no one. We had taken off a cream crackered Bennett and replaced him with Bod. They still pressed us back but we continued our solid defensive work. Molly made a decent run down the left and a good pass found Bod whose shot was tipped over. It was time for fresh legs Off went Woods for Williams and Jed for Bradshaw. We had more resolve to keep them out and decided with 5 to go it was time to hang on to what we had. Off went Molly for Pearce and Danny for Romeo. Thye huffed and puffed but couldn't blow our house down and we saw off the added three minutes without drama.

Bart was solid and kept his 15th clean sheet. Danny was one of the contenders for MOM with a really energetic and driving performance down the right. Hutch was a tower of strength alongside Murray and Cooper was dominant. Molly was energetic down the left and defended well. The second contender for MOM was Mitchell. He was everything that Ben wasn't. He put in a great performance in the middle, tackled hard, set up Jed for the cross for the winner and never gave an inch. Woods was solid and Evans was not to be beaten in the middle. Bennett was full of energy and led the line well but MOM goes to Jed for a great performance, full of energy and threat and setting up the winner.
Bod was a nuisance but did make one decent run and had a good shot that was tipped over.Bradshaw as just nuisance value, Williams was calm and assured and Pearce and Mahlon just bottled up the last 8 minutes.

So, a team that had all the answers against us a few months ago were second best and can have no complaints. Three points, a clean sheet, a game full of energy and commitment and now 52 points and another season of championship football to look forward to. Our clueless manager does it again. Following Wednesday's abject performance he changes the team. gets a reaction and we win a gritty encounter against a very decent team whose play off hopes are not looking good. Hats off to Gary and the boys.

Cheers Silver , 15 clean sheets shows that if we can find one or two attacking threats we can have a great season ,fair play to GR who has after every loss bar one got us fired up and stopped the rot , it is always great to see 2 of our own come through and make an impact ,they both are good footballers that look up before and after they recieve the ball ,the starting line up must be the same for the rest of the season ,todays team had grit skill passion and a deserved 3 pts .

I watched the second half, poor passing as usual gave the ball 90% away to them so that puts us under pressure straight away, lucky for us they didn't have their scoring boots on. COYL

A good report from NAD

GRANT Hall’s first-half own goal gave Millwall a 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough at The Den on Saturday afternoon.

The Boro centre-back inadvertently turned home Jed Wallace’s 31st-minute cross to earn the Lions their fourth home win in the league in 2021.

Thanks Silver.

But Danny clearly shot - he didn't cross. Should have gone for it with outside of right foot, so it curves towards the goal. But he'll learn.

A few key things this game has highlighted, Mitchell and Mac will need to start games and Mahoney to shift Bod out of the reckoning. But we do bounce back after being defeated with 3 points , clean sheet , it’s the goal attempts that stuff us every time.

Silver Danny wasn’t crossing it was a shot and just past the post so unlucky

Middlesbrough's Neil Warnock: I could have put more effort in than 'non-existent' strikers

Neil Warnock lambasted an “unacceptable” first-half performance from his “non-existent” Middlesbrough forwards, claiming he could have put more effort in than they did.

Thanks Silver. All the starting 11 played well. one I don't understand though why we always play better against the teams above us but drop points to the teams below us? As Rotherham are fighting against relegation it wouldn't surprise me if we drop points against them in our next home game..

We got to do our bit and help Lord Bowyer go back to where he came from tho :grinning: ,Rotherham have plenty to play for so we will have to be at it .

Delighted to read your just back after such a good display today, Silver. More positives out of today's game than ever, and certainly something to build on over the international break.
I hope Billy and Danny have shown GR that they deserve to be starting games more often, and although a top 6 finish isn't realistic, I'd be more than happy to finish top ten. Especially after such a strange season. Cheers Silver. Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
