International match pass

Presumably, it's all run by Sky now so overseas viewing may not be available in the same format as we've had previously.
The only comment the club made on the issue so far is that International match passes would still be available.
I'm not panicking, because this is something that is normally sorted out just before the season starts.
My opinion is that the Sky deal makes it more complicated this year.
In previous years I paid my 140 quid or whatever knowing that I may lose a couple of matches to Sky. 2,3 or 4 matches out of 46, no big deal, right? Especially as I knew I could probably watch the games on Cricfree, and then later when I got a VPN.
But now the club knows at the start of the season that half our matches will be on Sky, so in theory not available on the International pass system, at least not in most countries.
So, what does the club do? Do they halve the cost of an annual match pass? If they do, they will do so in the sure and certain knowledge that we all be watching the games with a VPN. But, of course, they can't say that.

They even give a list of countries before every match where we CAN watch.
It is a dilemma for the club, but not one I have a great deal of sympathy with. Nobody forced them to sell their soul to S*Y.

It is a dilemma for the club, but I doubt that it is one that they are overly concerned about.

I'd be surprised if sales of the international pass generated much revenue (£50k absloute max?). By way of contrast, the new Sky deal should significantly increase our revenue (by upwards of £2m). From the club's perspective, if something has to give, it's pretty much a no-brainer.

I'm surprised that the club has stated that the international match pass will still exist; it will be interesting to see what the offer will be. Personally, if we get all matches for +/-£160/ season I'll still buy it. Much above that then I'll just watch matches on IPTV for free.

I agree, the Sky deal is worth much more.
The info about match passes being still available was contained in the press release when the Sky TV was announced.
You are probably likely to be the least affected by the new deal, as Belgian broadcasters never seem to take Sky matches.

Whilst I agree that revenue from international passes may not be extremely lucrative, they are effectively money for virtually nothing.
All matches are videoed these days anyway. Likewise Millwall sells audio commentary options as well anyway.
So, any income received is pure profit.
Whilst 50 grand, if that is what it is, may not seem much in the context of the
Club’s football activities, in the context of the media department I’m sure it helps greatly to justify the work of that department.

Rest assured that, as MO’s official minister of video matches, I will be all over my brief. Watch this space.

I don't know if this helps, or confuses the situation even more, but here goes...

I went on the OS today to find that International match pass monthly subscriptions are available for 25 quid, renewal recurring automatically.
Interestingly, it says that matches selected for international broadcasting will not be available, but NO mention of Sky TV matches.
Are they taking the piss?

Another thing where they really are taking the piss...I subscribe to Millwall TV+ for 50 quid a year. My payment was taken last week to renew for the coming season. Today, I received an email offering me a 20% discount code for the thing that renewed automatically last week!! Thieving bastards!

Why do they have to make things so difficult/complicated?
They talk about good communication between the club and fans, then do the opposite.

I reckon that “internationally broadcasted” games will likely be the 20 Sky games. Certainty needs clarification by the club - now! I know most forum readers are in the UK and not that concerned with us overseas lot, but for us Millwall diehards - like me and Paul - we are desperate to see - and pay - for all Millwall games at a fair price and with easy accessibility Grrr…..

Right folks, here is the latest.
Annual and monthly international match passes are now available on the OS.
For a month £25
For a year: £140
They say that all league matches will be available except those selected for international broadcast.
They carefully make no mention of matches selected by Sky, the sly bastards.

Anyway, I have bought an annual pass, as I know that Sky matches will still be available with my VPN.

Further to everything written above, I have just sent this email to the club, which should be self explanatory...

Dear Sir,

Following my recent email on the above subject, I have now found and purchased an annual international match pass at £140.

However, I feel that the explanation on your website is extremely vague , to say the least.

It seems to me there are more grey areas than on an elephant. Was this done deliberately, perhaps?

I shall explain what I mean. In the caption where the annual pass is advertised, it says (in print that is barely legible, by the way) that matches selected for broadcast will not be available.

Yet, in the same caption for monthly passes, it says that matches selected for INTERNATIONAL broadcast will not be available. Now, my question is, which is it? International broadcast matches? or broadcast matches?

Is the ambiguity deliberate to cover the fact that up to 23 matches will be on SKY TV this season?

I hope you can see why I might think that.

I would be delighted if you would kindly clarify the matter for me.

I really need to know if I have bought the right to watch 46 matches, less a couple selected for international broadcast, OR have I bought the right to watch 46 matches minus at least 23 matches selected for Sky broadcast PLUS another few selected for international broadcast?

Kind regards
