How long have you been going to Wall?

My Dad took me when I was two and I am now 74. Can’t say I have been to every game since then but I have been to a lot. Had an enforced break when I was six as my Dad died so I only went when a friends Dad would take me. Got a paper round at 13 and then went every time. Two and four pence return from Kidbrooke to New Cross, two Bob to get in and sixpence for a programme so tuppence change from five Bob. Season ticket holder for over forty years and now get to almost every home game and some away too if they are local. Spent three years as a student in Nottingham and went to see Forest and County but absolutely nothing beats the Lions, especially when the Den is rocking!
I remember paying 6d to get in. Went the following season, price went up to 9d, didn't have it, someone gave me the 3d to get in.

47 years. Burnley at home 1977. Think we won 2-0 or 2-1. Got a clout round the head coz I didn't wanna go

I was at that game (2-0). I think it was the last game of the season.
Frank Casper, one of Burnley's legends had just retired and had just taken over as youth team coach for them. I was shacked up with one of his sisters at the time and he got me two tickets for the stand for that game. First time I had sat in that old stand. I took me old man 'cause he wanted to meet Frank Casper. It made his day (my dad, not Casper).

First time contributor….

First game was the penultimate game at the old Den - April 1993, 1-0 against Charlton. Would have been 10 years old.

Grandad lived on Hunsdon Rd, which backed on to the Den.

I'll always be grateful to my old man for taking me Millwall, BUT, that day one of his Palace mates at work convinced him to go Palace v Villa - apparently a really big game. I sulked like fuck, half time comes and over the tannoy comes 'Millwall 5 - Exeter 0' , he looked down at me and for one of very few occasions in his life said sorry.

That was one of my favourite seasons. It didn't quite work out in the end, but still very enjoyable along the way. There were some outstanding performances and results as well.

Our season was over with us in second place, which meant all trotting over to Leyton Orient on a sunny Tuesday evening for the infamous 'bomb scare' O's vs Brum game...
:grinning:
Remember going over to orient that night as well. Getting on the pitch afterwards for the bomb scare. Didn't a seat get blown up or something? Seem to remember it did.

As some of you know I'm a Johnny come lately. Thought I'd done 30 but it's only 29 years since Arsenal away in the Cup '95. First went wall '74, but as a CR. Always a bit in awe. Saw wall a number of times home and away before I started following them. Always went off, always loads of atmosphere and edge. Mate of mine knew a fella at work DT who was a chap. Got on with him from the off and gradually gained his trust to the point where he started to introduce me to other likeminded. Felt right at wall from the start, was accepted, loved being down there. And that mutual loyalty and camaraderie has helped me through the toughest times. Just love Millwall with all my heart. Felt like it was always meant to be.
