I watched the extended highlights of our match against Sunderland & a comment caught my attention 8.20 minutes in, “It’s been stop start, a game short on quality.”

What makes a good game of football? Personally I rate that game as 9 out of 10. It had everything (apart from the win) I watch football for. Passion, grit, end to end, loads of goalmouth action, shots, individual bit of skill, saves, near misses, fans up for it, officials winding me up & a gutting last gasp goal to piss the away fans off.

The commentator obviously has a different type of game in mind. I guess 90% possession, tactical, slow build up and a string of 50 passes going nowhere. I know which one I want to see.

Looking at away fans forums before matches an away fixture at the Den seems very popular. You always get some idiot asking if he will survive, should he kiss the kids goodbye & double his life insurance. Clearly the fans who actually go to games DO LIKE US.

To me every Wall game I have watched has always got the feel of a cup game. I want to feel the touch of fear in my stomach every time the balls in our box, the hope when we take the ball forward, the anger at poor reffing and the unbridled joy when we turn over a team in the dying seconds that has wasted time most of the game. Lazy journos never miss a chance to have a sly dig at Millwall.
Obviously, it could not have been Sunderland's fault if it was a dull game, could it? After all, they are top of the league (or they were until 90+3 mins :grinning: )

Regarding stop/start....I don't remember the exact figures, but I think the foul count was something like 14 by us and 13 by them, so you can't say that was exclusively our fault either.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good headline.

A good entertaining game for me would be few stoppages which lets the game flow, along with the ball going backwards and forwards instead of sideways.
Unfortunately modern football involves a lot of pointless sideways passing and players deliberately committing fouls or falling over at the slightest touch so I find it less entertaining than 30 years ago.
