Fat Frank n/w

Edwards back with Fat Frank, just like he always wanted.

Will we boo him when he comes back? Bearing in mind he used to look like he had been crying when interviewed towards the end of his spell with us, we better not.

I don't hate Edwards, I just think he was a shit manager and massively overrated as a coach.

I don't have any feelings for him at all, he thought he was ready to manage and only when he was managing did we all know he couldn't.
For all the theory in the world, there is a reason why managers used to always be called managers, they manage people, Harris is at the other end of the scale to Edwards in that department can't be taught in an UEFA coaching course, it's part of who you are.

Edwards was certainly no good for us. As pointed out, he wasn't really managerial material. Well not at this point in his career.

Coaching wise, was/is he overrated? I don't know but judging by the respect and praise he gets from within the game from fellow professionals, he probably isn't overrated.

Who knows or cares. He's not really our problem anymore - At least until we play Coventry, that is.
:grinning:

That last point you make is very astute.

Fat Frank is a disaster waiting to happen. He falls into that classic category of a very good player who cannot understand why other players can’t do what he can do. NH is at the other end of the spectrum. A player who worked his way through the non league stuff and was a real leader in the dressing room. I imagine he would say to all his mates at Cambridge City let’s just go out there and push and press them and force them into surrender. He lead by example. Never gave up and ran until he dropped. I was talking to a mate about him the other day who said that somebody went to game to see what he was like and when the team came into the dressing room at the end of the game the team were a bit muddy but NH was absolutely covered from head to toe in mud. That’s how he played his game and that is exactly how he wants his team to play.
As for Edwards he never played the game at any level and clearly had no understanding of the practicalities of muck and bullets football. Talked a good story but got found out at the end….thank goodness! I think we should give him polite applause and thank our lucky stars that he is not with us anymore. If he had stayed we would be deep in the brown stuff by now and heading towards L2!

Edwards is a fantastic coach by all accounts, and I think somewhere down the line he may be a good “head coach”. The problem is/was that he tried to change too much, implement too many changes and change the core of a Millwall style. We were the wrong club, wrong time and he was the wrong man for us.

Yet he wouldn't change the tactics when we kept losing.

Group of senior players, who decided they did not fit into his plans basically down tools.,and took the dressing room with them.
You cannot reconcile the performances against Norwich and Bristol C on New Year's day against the last two of his tenure.

What ‘accounts’ are they? I saw absolutely no sign of this ability during his farcical reign with us.

The Coventry squad is used to playing a more fluid type of football than us when Edwards was here and will probably be able to deal with his ideas better.

It could work out well for him this time.

Be very careful, he may throw his clipboard at you!

Looks like it

I don't doubt Edwards coaching ability, unfortunately for us he is as bad a manager as he is as good a coach.
The players did not buy in to his way of playing either they did not like it or were not good enough and were out their comfort zone but he was not for us

He is in the right job know, assistant, his coaching will benefit them and he doesn't need to a leader of the team or will be controlling the tactics.
It was a big gamble but everything has turned out fine now.
