I’ve been banging this drum for a while & his goals at the start have saved his blushes but, he is consistently one of the worst players in this team. I cannot stress how strongly I feel about how poor he is. No wonder Gallen didn’t flinch in his interview about contract renewals.

I am gutted Harris is leaving but it’s criminal Watmore gets game time over Emakhu.

As I said, I was a Harris fan, just sometimes I fail to see sense in some changes. Taking off Casper & Azeez while leaving Watmore & Sav who could both barely move is baffling to me. This is seems to be a common theme too. So I’m looking forward to a new manager in that sense when trying to find positives.

Makes me sick Watmore along with Bryan are two of the reported top earners. Costing the club over a million quid a year between them. 🤣 crazy.

New manager with his hands tied behind his back as to what signings he would want and exactly the reason why there is a managerial merry go round in the top two divisions.
Would Alex Ferguson and Brian Clough work under those conditions ??
The clubs they managed were more than financially sound... you have to compare apples with apples.

In their day Harris would sign his own players, Today they would have a DoF above them and not have 100% control over the situation, it is the way football is today and has been for a while now.

Have to be honest, would I want Harris in control of signings? Probably not. You could better your bottom dollar Watmore would still be here next season

Isn't it impractical to expect a manager to do the scouting these days, even we are now looking around many other countries for players, managers also spend more time at the training ground than they used to.

I'm not sure.

Even in the old days, managers often wouldn't do the scouting themselves. They would say to the scouts, 'Go find me a #10', and the scouts would return with a list of recommendations. The manager would then probably go along to one or two games to watch the targets for himself and would almost certainly have the final decision on whether or not to buy.

I don't know why that process can't work in today's game, especially given that players can be watched on video much more easily nowadays.

That’s how I thought it worked. Seems sensible. I remember Graham Taylor at the Old Den looking at our centre forwards. He picked Cas over Ted which I was sad but relieved about at the time as Ted had more to his game.

A read of that article might show how the game has already moved on, the job involves many more people or a different understanding of our perception of scouting.

New manager, fresh eyes... who knows what will happen?
Agree about fresh eyes.
I feel Watmore criticism is OTT. He is not naturally left footed. Lurks left of centre, gets played in and elects to go left, round the outside of the defenders and further away from the target. Has no left peg, so has to check back onto his right to shoot. Usually opportunity lost. It's a matter of coaching, not ability imo. Creates good situations at the right end of the pitch.
