Dan Ballard

As good as he is, doubtful he would be picked as a first choice in the Arsenal team, best he could hope for would be a few appearances in the nonsense cups. Rekon we could be in with a chance if we offer more than a Mars Bar and pack of crisps!!!

So your thinking 2 mars bars? if so, your crazy this is Millwall, we will offer the standard, half a curly wurly.

He is a class act. They sent him here to gain experience and we have benefitted from their decision big time. It is a fair bet that he won’t be with us next year. The most likely scenario is that he goes back to Arsenal and they loan him out to a newly promoted Premier league side such as a Bournemouth or Fulham. There is no question that he is quality.

Or us.....

:grinning:
Like your thinking, Kryan!

I don’t want to upset supporters on here, by using that dreaded two letter word (opposite of down), or another 9 letter word (opposite of relegation), so will substitute them for the word ‘Ascend.’ :grinning:

If we were to ‘ascend‘ this season, maybe there will be more funds than usual, available to make the Arse a decent offer for Ballard? As another poster rightly said on here, Ballard’s game time with the Arse in that division will probably be limited to a few games/cup games in a season. Ballard may realise that, and be willing to sign for us, if he becomes surplus to the Arse’ requirements!

It seems he loves the club and the fans, and he knows what the fans think about him, so it could be a marriage made in heaven! All players want to play all the time (it’s a very short career), so what could be better for Ballard to play two (maybe four) games a month, in front of 15,000+ home fans, knowing that, bar an injury or a run of poor performances, he’s pretty much certain to play every game?

No chance that we'll get him.Hes here to show Arsenal how good he could be...and he's doing just that.

I doubt the gunners would pay the money we would demand for them.
We could have a situation with Ballard, as we did Molumby, in that after his loan has ended, the player goes back to his parent club, can’t get into the 1st team, gets loaned out again (back to us?), and then we inquire about buying him!

We will counter the Arse’s initial valuation of Ballard, which the club and/or the player will/will not accept, and go on from there (whichever way it turns out!)

The Arse may want, say, £5M for Ballard, who’s been at their Academy since the age of 8, so £5M could be seen as a good return on their 14 year investment in him! Yes, £5M would be a humongous sum of money for JB to find, but the lad is only going to get better, and we need to do what Brentford have always done: buy players that have a good resale value! In three years time, and if Ballard’s trajectory is still on the up, how much will he be worth then? £10M, £20M, £40M? Whatever the amount, it’s going to be a bloody good return on an initial £5M outlay!
