Alex Neil.

We need someone with good Championship experience. Alex Neil has a lot of credibility with what he’s done before.

If you’re not sure about his credentials, ask yourself how many other managers we can attract that’s won 2 promotions - 1 to the premier league not that long ago.

If he comes in, he’ll get my support.

Alex Neil now 4/9 and 2/5 in the available odds. It looks very likely he'll be our next manager.

I think he'll do alright with us. If he watched today's game then he would have been very impressed. I know I'm Millwall and totally biased but we are a fucking great club with some brilliant young players who have immense potential. We have top drawer senior pros who set the example in the dressing room and the best defender in this division by a distance. The entire squad of players always work hard and give their all, that was evident today.

Alex Neil is no-nonsense, tough, down-to-earth, from a working class family and proven at this level. He is the outstanding candidate out of the three reported we have on the shortlist. He also applied for the job, we didn't seek him out, he wants to do it.

3 promotions. He got Hamilton promoted to the top division in Scotland and he was only 33 at that time. He also has 10 years experience as a manager and is still relatively young.

Cameron Jerome talking about Alex Neil. The caveat is this was 10 years ago and Neil was a very young manager.

"Alex came in, and he's aggressive. He is a wonderful man, but so aggressive. He'll challenge anything. He was like the school teacher who is so abrupt that you're almost scared of and you might mess around in someone else's class, but in this guy's class, you've got to concentrate and sit up straight.

"He had that sort of impact straight away. He shook up the group and woke the group up. Once we'd woken up, we started winning games. He was firm and fair. We went on a magnificent run that ended with promotion through the play-offs."

Excellent qualities but how will our squad (who I suspect are very set in their ways) react? 🤔

I imagine Alex Neil's style of management has probably changed a bit since then.

I read an interview with him recently where he said that he never has a go at a player if they make a mistake or don't play well because that happens, but if a player doesn't do something that he has specifically told him to do then he will give them both barrels.
