Oil Burke

I know it’s been mentioned elsewhere on here but a few journalists and now sky sports news are reporting that Burke is joining on loan and the deal is being finalised today so probably deserves it’s own thread.

So yeah, Oli Burke. Make of that what you will…

Judging by some of the comments on Twitter, Sheff Utd fans are as happy to see him go as we were to get rid of Bod.

Decent loan signing to fill a gap. Not prolific though. 172 appearances 16 goals. Will definitely work hard upfront.

Confirmation of the above from Rich Cawley.

Oliver Burke to Millwall is done. The Sheffield United player had his medical this morning at Lions' training ground. Loan until end of the season. Paperwork completed in time for him to feature at Blackpool tomorrow.

His career has been on a downwards trajectory for years which obviously isn't great. Let's hope he can turn things around with us.

Rowett said a couple of days ago that he's had to change their transfer policy due to the injuries to Bradshaw and Ojo. They're looking at short term players until the summer rather than working on long term targets now in order to get bodies in quickly.

Really hope the kid turns out alright BUT:
Hasn’t started a game for a year, out injured or not on the bench for half the games Sheff Utd have played since then. We are getting cast offs from a team on the same number of points as us (happens all the time) Absolutely no ambition by the club as usual BUT, good luck to him, let’s hope it works out

Good luck to him. Hope it works out for him with us. But its another signing that doesn't fill me with confidence. Loads of loans and too few goals.

Burke hattrick tomorrow.

He is a very mobile lad who has played in the Premier League but isn’t getting any game time at all at Bramall Lane. He is a professional footballer who wants to play. The ball is in his court. If he rediscovers his form with us over the next three months then he could have a promising future with us or somebody else. If he runs his nuts off but looks to be a dud then we just send him back at the end of the loan. For us it is a win win situation but for him it is a win or lose scenario.
He has much to prove and that could start tomorrow. He is an important signing that could be a stop gap but could lead to something brighter and more permanent. Watch this space.

The juries just happened last weekend, we should have had deals lined up anyway. Fact is, we are getting rejected let right & centre and so Rowett is desperately reverting to loan deals cos we have a small squad, have an injury crisis and he decided to start letting people leave.

very true if he can run and pass that would be an advantage! you look at Bod, ran around a lot, and if that is the single requirement to be a pro footballer there hopes for everyone just about! I see he's a right winger, I would have like to seen Burey given more game time though, but with Bradshaw out, and Smith gone, we are a bit light on experience, so understandable
