Millwall boss Willie Donachie has handed a trial to former Birmingham striker Njazi Kuqi.

Finland Under-21 player Kuqi, the brother of Crystal Palace striker Stefki, has been given a chance to earn a move to The Den as Donachie looks to bolster his forward line.

With on-loan Ipswich striker Danny Haynes likely to return to Portman Road when his one-month stay expires after Sunday’s match at Swansea, Kuqi could be an immediate replacement.

He has also had unsuccessful loan spells at Blackpool and Peterborough but Donachie said: ‘I’m sure if Ipswich were top of the table and winning they would be happy to allow Danny to remain with us longer.

‘But I understand that Jim Magilton may wish to have Danny back at this time.

‘I’m hopeful that Darren Byfield will be available to take his place on the bench for the Port Vale game, but in the meantime I’m also considering other options.

‘We currently have Shefki Kuqi’s brother Naz training with us and will be taking a closer look at him.

‘He has been playing in Finland and is a Finnish U21 international.’
