Goalkeeper David Forde has been nominated for the Senior International Player of the Year Award at the annual FAI International Football Awards.

The Awards ceremony takes place on March 2nd and the 34 year old has been nominated for the gong alongside Everton’s Seamus Coleman and LA Galaxy’s Robbie Keane.

Forde has been in good form over the last 18 months and with the retirement of Shay Given from international duty, he has fully and firmly established himself as the No 1 for the Republic of Ireland.

He made his international debut for them back in May 2011 and has since gone on to represent his country a further 14 times. No doubt had it not been for the form of Given in recent years, he would’ve added significantly to that appearance total.
