Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has confirmed that David Forde is in the starting XI to face England.

Our 33 year old Player of the Season runner up was obviously delighted with the news and he had special thanks for Kevin Pressman’s extra help in keeping him in top form for the game.

Speaking to the official site the goalie explained that obviously the Republic’s interest at the moment was preparation for the World Cup qualifier, but he knows it’s going to be a special event to line up against England.

‘The main focus for us this summer if that Qualifier, but we’re also looking forward to facing England which will be a fantastic occasion.’

Our No1 has continued training at the training ground despite most players already having headed off on holiday to recharge their batteries for next season, and he took time out to thank goalie coach Kevin Pressman for his giving up his own time to help him train.

‘I have to thank Kevin for coming in and helping me out becuase he’s taking time off from his own holidays. Even some of the medical staff, including Bobby (Bacic), have been around to help so I’m incredibly grateful.’
