Manager Neil Harris has praised goalkeeper David Forde following his individual performance against Barnsley in our last game, and midfielder Jimmy Abdou has spoken of his hopes for making up for lost time having been out with a shoulder problem.
Beginning with Harris, he told the official site that he felt the Republic of Ireland stopper had put in an ‘outstanding’ showing between the sticks in the two one loss.
‘I thought Fordey was outstanding on Saturday. It was unfortunate for Jordan with the red card but Fordey has taken his opportunity to come back in and has performed outstandingly well. He has given us some real leadership and his performances on the pitch have been very high. I thought he made a couple of really good saves and looked assured.’
With Forde back in following the suspension to Jordan Archer, it remains to be seen what the gaffer does in the future now.
Moving onto Abdou, in his own interview he talked about making up for lost time and the 31 year old was focused on making a run for the promotion spots this year.
‘I’m feeling good and happy to be back. I want to help play my part in getting the results to push us on to where we want to be. We had one defeat in October and one defeat in November, but then December was a bit disappointing. Maybe it was tiredness, but whatever it was we need to go again and try to do well. I was working hard before my injury; I try to enjoy every time I train and play. It is a great feeling and I am ready to go.’
With Oldham and Boundary Park up this weekend, he added.
‘Maybe it is a good thing that the game is being played on a Saturday and not a Tuesday night. It was frustrating, but we must re-focus on the job we need to do this time and do our best to win the game.’
